New Trucks for Sale in Dickson, TN

GMC and Chevrolet Pickup Trucks are the Best, But Which One is Best for You?

The pickup truck is a familiar sight on American roads, and on the streets here in Tennessee. Drivers choose trucks because they can tow campers, boats, and work trailers, and haul larger and heavier objects in their beds, while also managing to make room for passengers and families. At Alexander Chevrolet Buick GMC Dickson, we love pickup trucks just as much as you do, for all these reasons and much more, and we're proud to bring our customers a collection of some of the best pickups available from two of our favorite carmakers, GMC and Chevrolet.

If you're ready to upgrade to a new pickup truck, but you don't know where to start when choosing the perfect size and model for your needs, we can help. Our team can tell you more about each model we carry, and help you determine which is the best one for you.

Light-Duty, Mid-Sized Pickup Truck Models

For our customers who prefer the style and utility of a truck, but don't necessarily require the same level of heavy-duty strength of a full-sized model, both GMC and Chevy have great models to choose from. These two trucks are rugged and capable but have the drivability and maneuverability similar to an easy-to-drive car. Our options include:

  • Chevrolet Colorado. Perfect for work and play, the Colorado is available in a variety of options, including multiple engines and trims, and it has a 7,700-pound maximum towing capacity.
  • GMC Canyon. Similar in size and utility to the Colorado but crafted with a different interior and higher-end materials, the Canyon is also available in multiple trim levels and cab configurations, with a towing capacity that, like the Chevy Colorado, tops out around 7,700 pounds.

Full-Sized, Powerful Pickup Trucks

When life requires a little more oomph and power, consider one of the two popular, full-sized models from GMC and Chevrolet. Both of these trucks are legendary for the level of utility and capability they've given generations of drivers. Options include:

  • Chevy Silverado 1500. Pick your style and your trim level with this renowned pickup. Depending on which engine and axle-gearing configuration you choose, the Silverado 1500 can tow up to 12,100 pounds, and haul around 2,020 pounds in its bed.
  • GMC Sierra 1500. The GMC tradition of high-end, meticulously-crafted interior cabins is present in this sought-after pickup truck, which also allows you to tow a maximum of 12,100 pounds and haul around 2,010 pounds in its bed.

Heavy-Duty Workhorse Pickup Trucks

When the loads get really heavy, and the job gets really tough, both of our favorite pickup truck brand names have models that offer an astounding level of power and strength. Depending on your specific needs, there's a heavy-duty model from either GMC or Chevrolet that will perfectly suit your daily work. Options include:

  • Chevy Silverado 2500HD and Chevy Silverado 3500HD. Both of these trucks are ready (and capable) of handling any task you set before them. You get your pick of trim levels and powertrains with both of them. With a Silverado 2500HD, you can expect a tow rating of around 14,500 with standard equipment, and 18,100 pounds with a fifth-wheel gooseneck. For the Silverado 3500HD, towing capacity increases to an astounding 20,000 pounds.
  • GMC Sierra 2500HD and GMC Sierra 3500HD. Both of these heavy-duty models offer drivers signature GMC luxury and amenities, with high-performance ratings for utility. As with the Silverado 2500HD, look for a maximum towing capacity of around 14,500 pound, or 18,100 pounds with a fifth-wheel gooseneck, for the Sierra 2500HD, and, similar to the Silverado 3500HD, expect around a 20,000-pound towing capacity with the Sierra 3500HD.
