We’ve all heard the press about electric vehicles, and this year marked the release of the Chevy Bolt, not to be confused with the Volt, that will be a completely electric vehicle. It seems that Ford doesn’t intend to take that laying down and has started the design and production of their own electric vehicle. Whats the difference between Chevy Volt and Bolt? We’ll tell you what we know so far.
It’s no surprise that Chevy intends to put out an electric vehicle (EV) as they are gaining so much press and attention lately. With gas becoming a less popular form of vehicle fuel, EV’s are gaining popularity and thus, more options. The Chevy Volt that was released a few years ago has been pretty successful, with a refreshed version being expected later this year. However, the all-new Chevy Bolt concept is a different animal. It’s larger size and modern EV features include a fluid-looking exterior and a dashboard that has only a few small buttons. Compared to the center consoles of the past, the Bolt seems to be taking its modern center console touch screen to the maximum.
The Volt and Bolt have been getting attention for their similar names that have been confusing for car shoppers to remember, but Chevy has stated that they plan on keeping the name. Looking at the vehicles, it is easy to tell them apart. The full-length glass on the top of the Bolt is one of the outstanding features that make it unique. Bragging of it’s light weight and efficiency, Chevy intends this to be a vehicle that is spacious and comfortable, as well as, easy on the wallet for fuel. Electric vehicles are gaining more and more technology with each passing year, and a model like the Bolt is sure to have an impressive range and ability that is not yet matched by any other domestic brand.
Speaking of domestic brands, with all the Bolt excitement going around, it seems that Ford has taken the hint and is in the process of designing their own EV for production. Guesses say that it might make an appearance as a concept car at auto shows later in 2015.
