January Teacher of the Month

At Alexander Chevrolet Buick GMC, we like to take time out of every month to appreciate some of the local teachers who educate our children each and every day. In honor of these wonderful people, we present the Teacher of the Month Award. Here are the biographies of the teachers you have chosen to receive the award in January:
Jessica Waggoner
Waverly Junior High School

I graduated in 2000 from Austin Peay State University with a degree in Education and later earned a Masters Degree along with an Education Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision. I have spent all my years teaching in my home of Humphreys County, ranging from second to eighth grades. I am currently teaching in fifth grade for my sixth year, and I love it. Teaching is definitely a challenge at times, however being with children daily, getting to know them, seeing their achievements and witnessing their growth, makes it all well worth it!
Ryan Sensing
Charlotte E.S.

My name is Ryan Sensing, and I am in my seventh year of teaching. I love my job for many different reasons, but I would have to say that the number one reason that I love teaching and coaching is because my job consists of a lot more than teaching state standards and games. It involves relationships with people and endless opportunities to leave a lasting, positive impact on young men and women. I really strive to know my students and players much deeper than the names on their papers and jerseys. Respect is often earned by developing a sense of trust instead of being freely given. I am a firm believer in the old adage "they don't care what you know until they know you care." I try very hard to live it every day. I love to create smiles and help others whenever possible and often times at the expense of my personal pride. It's who I am as a person, and why I wanted to become a teacher and a coach.
