At Alexander Chevrolet Buick GMC, we like to take time out of every month to appreciate some of the local teachers who educate our children each and every day. In honor of these wonderful people, we present the Teacher of the Month Award. Here are the biographies of the teachers you have chosen to receive the award in November:
Kitzie ShepardThe Discovery School
I grew up in Dickson, TN, and am a proud product of our wonderful school system, attending Oakmont Elementary, Dickson Middle School and Dickson County High School. After high school, I attended The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. After graduating from the university, I completed a Master of Arts in Teaching Pre-K-3 at Belmont University. I have been teaching kindergarten at The Discovery School for three years now. Call me biased, but I believe five- and six-year olds are the most fun to teach! I love watching each student blossom as the year progresses. Teaching at The Discovery School is a joy thanks to the dedication of the faculty and parents who to continuously support the education and success of all students.
Suzanne ParhamDickson Elementary School
I have been teaching for twenty four years. I started in first grade at Stuart Burns Elementary for one year. I transferred to Dickson Elementary School and have been teaching here for over the last twenty three years. I started here at Dickson Elementary teaching Kindergarten for twelve years before moving up to second grade, where I have been for the last eleven years. My greatest joy is watching the children grow in their academics and seeing the pride they take in their achievements. I've been married to my husband Rick for 30 years. We have three children Josh, Jake, and Jaclyn and two grandsons, Knox and Maddox.
Kami MooreWaverly Elementary School
My name is Kami Moore, and I am a first grade teacher at Waverly Elementary School. I am honored to be considered a nominee for the Alexander Chevrolet "Teacher of the Month" award. This is my fourteenth year as an educator in the Humphreys County School System. Throughout my teaching career I have had the privilege to mentor three student teachers and nearly a dozen beginning teachers. Each day it is a blessing to walk into a room of smiling faces and know that I am impacting and shaping their future. I have high expectations for all of my students to become responsible, caring and productive citizens.
