At Alexander Chevrolet Buick GMC, we like to take time out of every month to appreciate some of the local teachers who educate our children each and every day. In honor of these wonderful people, we present the Teacher of the Month Award. Here are the biographies of the teachers you have chosen to receive the award in September:
Donna Ruff White Bluff Elementary in Dickson County
I am beginning my 25th year at White Bluff Elementary! I have taught kindergarten, first grade, primer and now third grade. I have three main goals as a teacher: To make learning fun, to inspire students to develop a love of reading and books, and to encourage each student to always do his or her best. I enjoy working with my school family to make WBES a great learning environment!
Hope Bryson New Directions Academy in Dickson County
I attended Martin Methodist College and majored in English. After graduating, I also decided to obtain a Secondary Education Certificate. I was first hired to teach English at Creek Wood in 2005, and remained there until 2009. In 2009, I joined the New Directions Academy middle school team.
Janna Smith McEwen Elementary in Humphreys County
Education has been an important part of my family for as long as I can remember. My parents were both teachers, as were both sets of grandparents. I began taking graduate classes through Austin Peay State University, and received my Master's Degree in 1994. I received my Bachelor of Science in Education from Freed-Hardeman College in 1987. That summer, I was hired as a kindergarten teacher for McEwen Elementary.
